Nicky De Gruchy – Musician, Artist, Voice Sound Therapist

Introducing Nicky

Meet Nicky De Gruchy, an artist, musician and sound therapist who draws inspiration from nature for her creativity and healing. With over thirty years of experience in teaching singing and working as a musician, Nicky now works as a Voice Sound Therapist, facilitating both group workshops and one-on-one sessions for clients. She has successfully worked with clients with conditions such as Alzheimer’s, anxiety, sleep disorders, morning sickness and palliative care.

Nicky works as a singer and musician, writing and performing original music with her husband Peter. Together they have a duo called Little Oberon and have played at many events and festivals. They have released four albums, with their latest one called “Songs Stories and Landscapes”. Nicky is also a practicing artist and explores digital art, video, sound, voice, and music. Her passion is creating audio-visual artworks that explore the mystery and wonder of nature, spirit, and earth.

Currently, Nicky is working on a project called “Essence of Place” with her husband Peter. They travel to beautiful places, film and spontaneously compose and record music while on the land. From intimate nooks in forests and rock pools, to vast panoramas of mountains and coast, “Essence of Place” takes you on a journey into the majesty and secrets of the Australian landscape. The intention is to create a relaxing and inspiring experience that takes you into the essence of these landscapes, no matter where you may be.

Nicky has presented at the International Bush Adventure Therapy conference in Sydney, Body Mind and Spirit in Melbourne and has worked with many different communities in a variety of creative ways. She has worked with schools, elderly citizens, youth, and people with special needs. She has also worked with environmental organizations such as Bass Coast Landcare Network, Clean Ocean Foundation, and Victorian Landcare Network.

Overall, Nicky’s work revolves around the healing power of sound, music, nature, and art. She is passionate about her work and has helped many people connect with their own true nature through her workshops and sessions.

Join Nicky, a professional singer and musician with over thirty years of experience, for a unique and transformative journey through the world of sound therapy.

With a Diploma in Voice Sound Therapy and Holistic Voice Therapy from the British Academy of Sound Therapy, BAST, Nicky uses expressive vocal exercises and techniques to help individuals process their thoughts and emotions through sound. She also works on a deeper level with voice, breath, and movement to improve health and wellbeing.

Experience the power of sound as you participate in interactive exercises, fun vocal warm-ups and games, vocal improvisation and expression, toning through the chakras, chakra sound and movement exercises to release resistance, breathing exercises to calm the nervous system, as well as passive activities such as a relaxing Voice Sound Bath and singing for connection and fun.

Research has shown that sound therapy induces an Altered State of Consciousness, similar to meditation, resulting in deep relaxation, reduced anxiety and stress, improved sleep and hormonal balances in the body. Sound Therapy has been used with very positive results for a wide range of illnesses such as chronic pain, depression and anxiety. Sound therapy not only helps with physical illness, it can also help balance emotions and quieten a busy mind.
