Artist’s Statement

Kim is a practicing interdisciplinary artist with a background in printmaking, drawing and performance. Working across disciplines her art practice is experiential and experimental with her work encompassing the contrasting roles of both performer and visual artist.

Kim believes that art is inclusive and a great facilitator for connection and communication.

Her academic art training includes a BA in Fine Art (Printmaking/Drawing) from Monash University, Post Graduate Diplomas from The Victorian College of the Arts, Emily Carr School of Art & Design, Vancouver Canada and The University of Melbourne (Movement & Dance).

Kim returned to study during her parenting years to undertake a Masters of Visual Arts and a Masters of Fine Art by Research from Monash University, her thesis investigating Sensory Art and Installation Art Practice.

She has exhibited in Australia and overseas and is a member of the ‘The Owls of Nebraska’ group of artists who have had residencies at Testing Grounds (Temporary Infrastructure for Creative Practice), Southbank, Melbourne.

Kim grew up in South Gippsland and after many years away studying and travelling returned with her partner to raise their three children. The children all having left home she enjoys living by the coast with her surfer partner and their multi-species four legged family.

Kim’s artworks will be featured in the exhibition spaces at Inverloch ART CO, and will include framed prints as well as an immersive multi-media installation.
