Introducing Henry

Meet Henry De Oleveira, a dedicated actor and theatremaker based in Naarm /  Melbourne. He graduated from Federation University’s Arts Academy in 2021 with a Bachelor of Performing Arts.

Henry is inspired by the world of immersive theatre and honed his skills working as an intern with Essential Theatre on their groundbreaking production, The Dream Laboratory, where he served as Deputy Stage Manager.

During his time at Federation University, Henry performed in several adaptations of iconic plays such as Three Sisters, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and The ‘Sparagus Garden. He also co-devised and performed in Exquisite Corpse, an original production that he co-created with director Laura Burzacott.

Henry has been a roaming, interactive performer with RMIT University and The Ballarat International Foto Biennale. In 2023, Henry was a workshop facilitator at the Creative Mental Health Forum in Inverloch, and he also directed a show at the prestigious Melbourne Fringe Festival.

With family connections in the region, Henry is thrilled to be sharing his love of theatre-making with young people on the Bass Coast this February.

Henry’s passion for theatre and his impressive portfolio of work make him an ideal mentor and teacher for budding actors and theatre-makers.

Henry is offering a new short course “ARTCO DRAMA” for young people aged 10-16 at the Inverloch Pop-Up ART CO.

Expand your skills in acting and drama performance

Wednesdays 4.45 – 6.15pm

7th, 14th, 21st, 28th February 

$35 per session, $120 for the whole short course

ages 12-16

Henry is an experienced drama facilitator who will guide you through the essential elements of acting. He will start by teaching you how to warm up your body and voice, which will help you to prepare for your performance. This warm-up session will also help you to relax and shake off any nerves you may have.

Next, you will explore the art of improvisation. Improvisation is an essential skill for actors, as it allows them to think on their feet and respond to unexpected situations. Henry will give you tips on how to improvise and guide you through different scenarios.

Body language is another crucial element of acting, as it can convey emotions and add depth to a performance. Henry will teach you how to use your body effectively to communicate with your audience.

Emotion is a powerful tool in acting, and Henry will show you how to tap into your own emotions and use them to create a compelling performance. You will learn how to express different emotions convincingly and how to project them to the audience.

Lastly, storytelling is an integral part of acting. Henry will guide you through the process of developing a story and bringing it to life on stage. You will learn how to create characters, build a plot, and deliver a captivating performance.

Don’t worry if you have no prior experience in acting – Henry’s classes are designed for beginners. You can expect to engage in drama games, have some laughs, and expand your skills in a supportive and encouraging environment.
