HEART SONG – Brodie Caporn shares how to make music and meaning together with children and families

HEART SONG - Including Song Writing in your therapeutic practice – NO MUSIC SKILLS REQUIRED!

Brodie is back in 2023!

Brodie Caporn joins us on Sunday 7th May at the 2023 Creative Mental Health Forum to share this process she developed with young people with complex needs and their families to create a very special “Heart Song”.

Here she is at our 2022 event where she helped us write our anthem “This is Creative Mental Health”.

Brodie has extensive experience working with people of all ages with lived experience of trauma as well as those living with disabilities and/or chronic illnesses.

She has previously been based in schools, including Specialist and Special Developmental schools, Aged Care facilities, Children’s Hospice and respite services and is currently in private practice working primarily with neurodiverse young people.

Her most recent passion project has been developing a Creative Arts Therapy program with Hannah’s House – a Perth based respite service for young people with complex needs and their families.

Through this program Brodie is working with each family to create a very special “Heart Song” with their child – a process she looks forward to sharing at her workshop!

About "Brodie Caporn"

Brodie is a West Australian based singer-songwriter and Creative Arts Therapist who is passionate about using (and encouraging others to use!) song writing in their therapeutic arts practice.

Having used song writing as a way of processing and making meaning of life experiences since she was very young, Brodie believes that there is something deeply shifting about the process of combining poetry and music.

This experiential workshop will offer both those with a similar passion for the song writing process and those with little to no experience of incorporating music in to their private and professional practice an opportunity to explore how song writing processes might work for them.

It can’t be stressed enough – there is absolutely NO MUSIC EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (by practitioner or participant) when engaging in therapeutic song writing processes!

All that’s required is an openness to trying something new and a sense of curiosity.
