Community Exhibition – “COVID-19 Lock Down Art”, you are invited to participate!

Art Therapy Supervision

Artists and Art Therapists are rising to the challenge of COVID-19 Lock Down by making art! I have created a gallery on my website as a free and dedicated space where you can exhibit your artwork, and we can together co-create a collection in response to this historic and global crisis that we are right now living through.

For example, here is what Registered Art Therapist and Spiritual Care Practitioner Michelle Morgan is doing – a ‘Mandala a Day’ challenge for the month of April: https://www.facebook.com/events/866636787082735/

She says, “In this challenge, you’ll be invited to make a new mandala every day, and to post your mandala into our Facebook group (and wherever else you like!).

During the month, you’ll receive a weekly email with prompts for your ongoing practice, questions for reflection, and the awesome support of a community of artists who are walking alongside you in the challenge”.

Tamsin Channing has created the FB group “Creatives in Quarantine” https://www.facebook.com/groups/1344445309084277/

Tamsin implores members to post their wild and creative “bathroom mural you created midst cabin fever, an unusual new vegan dish you made with the last 4 ingredients in your pantry, a ballgown you made from taffeta curtains to dance a slow solo tango on your rooftop…” and encourages members with this low pressure meme:

The Community Exhibition “COVID-19 Lock Down Art” is a place where art projects like these can come together and exhibit these wonderful works. It is super easy to be an artist in this exhibition, all you need to do is send me a good quality photo of your artwork with these details:

Artist name, (date of art work completed), “Title of Art Work”. Dimensions Height in cm x Length in cm, materials, location. And then a short statement telling viewers something about the art work, your process, or how making the art work has made a difference in your life.

To participate please email me your photo and these details at carlavanlaar@gmail.com

Feel free to share this among your networks, and let’s have an exhibition together!
