I am interested in modern Islamic art which incorporates the beautiful architectural lines of its ancient buildings and was inspired to paint this after looking at some examples through my travels.
It also alludes to the fact that inside the walls of houses, there is much life.

Jane, I am really struck by the variety of colour and pattern contained within the snug fitting shapes, and these remind me of tiled mosaic. The darkness in the top of your painting accentuates the brightness of the buildings, as though they are full of light, glowing, indeed, with life.
