Yowenjerra/Yalluk Bulluk Consultants provide a very open look into the culture of the Boon Wurrung.
Yowengerra/Yalluk Bulluk would like to invite you to attend a traditional Welcome to Country so that you can walk with ease on these lands during your time at the 2023 Creative Mental health Forum.
“My name is Sonia Weston. I am a very proud Boon Wurrung Yowengerra Yalluk Bulluk Woman and Custodian of Country. I have a lifetime of knowledge from my Old People and Ancestors (my LORE), and some I would like to share with you”. – Sonia Weston
THE WELCOME TO COUNTRY BEGINS AT 3PM
Please meet at the car park at the end of “The Esplanade” Inverloch. This is the start of the walk to Townsend Bluff via Screw Creek, and is marked on google maps as “Townsend Creek Circuit”.
To access the car park, you need to walk all the way along The Esplanade to the end of the Big Four Caravan Park.
Please park at the “Anderson Inlet Angling Club” car park and walk in. Allow 15 minutes for this walk.
If the walk is not possible for you, please drive through the Big Four Caravan Park and park in our meeting place where there are about six available car parks for those that need them.
CULTURAL WALK BEGINS AT 3.30PM
After the Welcome to Country, Sonia has generously offered to lead a Cultural walk around the Inlet, over the Creek and up to the Bluff and back.
This is a 1.8 km return walk on good tracks with one hill of 11 metres elevation. Sonia will share stories of her Country and Cultural knowledge, a rare opportunity for participants.
The walk will be finished by 4.30pm in time for participants to bring artworks to the Inlet Hotel and install our improvised exhibition for the Welcome Cocktail Dinner Party.
