“Carla offers the best of all worlds in her training: practical, experiential arts-based processes with an accessible overview of relevant theory to contextualise these practices. She also provides space for reflection and integration of these ideas along with opportunities to form new connections with fellow participants. Thanks Carla!” – Melanie Paul, Hobart Art Therapy
I am so very happy to be in a place in my own life where I can support your amazing work as Art Therapists and Friends of Art Therapy, and not only support your work but help you connect with each other in being a strong and empowered community with a creative, authentic identity.
In 2019 I launched a series of Professional Development workshops with the intention of sharing some of the key learnings from my Doctoral research and art based ways of working that I have developed over decades of practice.
The training workshops have been well attended, and a great joy to facilitate. I have reconnected with many Art Therapists that I haven’t seen for years, deepened connections with supervisees, and met new practitioners who inspire me endlessly with their work and commitment. I was even invited to take one of the workshops to Hobart!
The Professional Development group is becoming a strong and supportive community for Art Therapists and friends of Art Therapists, and deeply satisfying to be part of.
In response to the feedback I have already received I want to let you know that in 2020:
Although CERES is a wonderful urban oasis, there are limitations to the training rooms. I have sourced a bigger space at SiteWorks in Brunswick for 2020 Professional Development workshops with better audio visual set up so that the slideshow will be more visible, and sound quality better, we will have more room to move, and there are timber floors that are more art friendly. http://www.saxonstreet.com/
In response to requests, I am re-offering the same series of PD workshops for those who couldn’t make it this year, and adding another series with a deeper layer for those who want to continue the work. This includes ‘Existential Essentials for Art Based Practitioners’, ‘Demystifying Art Based Research’, and ‘Getting Creative with Trauma Part 2’ that focuses more on intergenerational and ancestral work with an emphasis on the healing power of honouring human rights through art based practices and the arts in restorative ritual.
My Professional Development workshops are always hands-on, transforming training rooms into art studios and maker spaces, and regularly feature invited special guests. In 2019 these included actor Henry who played the roles of clients for us to practice with, Mischana who provided us with insider knowledge of the mental health issues faced by Australia’s entertainment industry professionals, and Nioka who bathed us all in a sound healing experience that was truly beyond words. Big thank-yous to these three generous souls for sharing your gifts with us.
I would love to see you at some of the 2020 Professional Development workshops. All the details are at the link below. Remember to sign up for the newsletter to stay in the loop!
🙂 Carla
