Zoom Art Therapy session using Whiteboard drawing tool.
This was our first session since COVID restrictions had come in and working with Zoom together. My client talked and then together we had a play with the Whiteboard drawing tools. After telling me about life now without school, not meeting friends face to face, only talking on iPads, not much time outside and feeling scared, I asked my client to draw me what this feels like.
After the drawing this story emerged.
Calm blue water
Sun shining
One little purple fish swimming close to a little green fish
A golden egg in the water
It explodes
Along comes a big green shark
Kills the little purple fish
Red blood

LR, thank you for letting Marie share this work with us in our community exhibition. I am impressed with your choices of lots of different colours and interesting lines. Drawing on the computer is so different to drawing with textas! The colours don’t blend when you scribble over them, and the page will never rip no matter how much you scribble in the same spot. Its really interesting. It sounds as though you were making a story at the same time as drawing, and the colours in your art work match the colours in your story. I can see all the parts of your story in this art work. I hope you will share some more art with us soon!
Marie, this art work and the story you share with it seem so rooted in this very moment in history, especially for art therapists as we investigate together how to work creatively with people online.
