Cultivating Presence and Embodiment through Art Based Practices

Art Therapy Supervision

Since finishing my Doctoral research – an art based research project into “Seeing her stories”, I became compelled to immediately start sharing what I have learned. I don’t want my findings to just sit on a book shelf, I want them to live in the world! So, I recently developed a series of professional development workshops based on my findings and decades of practice.

Day one of the five new workshops was inspired by one of the chapters from my thesis, “Presence and Embodiment”. This day was an experiential journey into cultivating our capacities for presence and embodiment through art based practices. We delved into ancient wisdom systems, art making as a state of open mindfulness and flow, tuned in to our embodied awareness AND explored how the presence of artworks embody meaning and energies.

Some of the magical moments from yesterday’s Professional Development workshop cultivating presence and embodiment through art based practices are conveyed in these images.

Here’s what participants said at the end of the day:

“I was immersed in the flow, I would have stayed longer!”

“I am taking with me the permission to slow down, to connect with others through listening deeply and presently.”

“It was well above my expectations, I felt safe to really open up and be seen.”

“Every process was valuable and I feel it will not only help me to develop as an art therapist and researcher but also as a woman and person.”

“I liked the balance between theoretical and experiential content.”

“Fabulous venue, conducive to healing.”

Thank you everyone for a rich and wonderful day! Looking forward to the next one in August. Check it out here:
