ART THERAPY IN POST-CONFLICT RECONCILIATION AND DETAINEE REHABILITATION with Chanudi Wickramasinha

Exploring the Role of Art Therapy in Post-Conflict Reconciliation and Detainee Rehabilitation

Art Therapist, Chanudi Wickramasinha is joining us in May 2024 to share learnings from her fascinating work with ex-militants. Chanudi is a well-respected practitioner in the field of art therapy and has been instrumental in pioneering the integration of art therapy as a rehabilitative modality in Sri Lanka’s post-war detainee rehabilitation centers.

During the pilot study, Chanudi lived within the rehabilitation camp for over two weeks, delivering a thoroughly prepared program. Her experience working with ex-militants undergoing a comprehensive rehabilitation program offered by the government of Sri Lanka resulted in many challenges, learnings, and findings.

Allied health and mental health practitioners will find this presentation incredibly interesting and informative. Ms. Wickramasinha’s insights into the use of art therapy as a rehabilitative modality in post-war settings will be invaluable to anyone working in the field of mental health.
