STRENGTHENING THE VESSEL
If you’re an allied health professional looking for creative and empowering ways to work with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, then “Strengthening the Vessel in the Ebb and Flow” workshop is the perfect opportunity for you!
Led by Ann Soo Lawrence, an experienced social worker, creative arts therapist, social work educator, and supervisor, this workshop will introduce you to the power of trauma-informed art therapy in helping clients to rebuild their stories beyond words.
In May 2024, Anne brings her gentle wisdom to share with attendees at the 2024 Creative Mental Health Forum and Collective Care Retreat.
Working with clients from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds can be complex and challenging, particularly when it comes to mental health issues. This workshop will provide you with a different kind of ‘language’ that is culturally nuanced and sensitive to the needs of your clients.
Through a range of art-based processes such as mark making, collage, movement, creating vision boards, dioramas, and other approaches, you’ll learn how to engage clients beyond language and empower them to tell their stories in a new way.
This practical workshop will explore the dynamic of safety and freedom in working with this client group, and will provide you with fresh ideas and insights from your own artmaking during the session. Importantly, you’ll also learn how to draw upon the wisdom and experiences of your clients using a variety of art prompts and invitations.
So if you’re ready to take your practice to the next level and learn new skills that will benefit your clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, then this workshop is not to be missed!
We are thrilled to welcome Ann as a facilitator at the 2024 Creative Mental Health Forum and Self Care Retreat.
