Explore the emerging colour of a different perspective while watching the cauldron boil
In a gentle, hands on workshop we hold a sense of openness to what bubbles up in the moment as we explore the creation of natural colour.
We become curious to the possibilities within our relationship with nature; maybe there is more to our connection with the humble carrot or onion skin than taste and nourishment of our physical body?
Maybe we explore different ways to be with the beautiful leaves, flowers and moss we see and smell on our walks?
There is never just one way, one point of view, one clear and separate path.
As we patiently “watch the cauldron boil” we may consider our relationships with all around us from a different perspective.
Leeza Straford and Alieta Belle join us on Sunday 7th May at the 2023 Creative Mental Health Forum to facilitate this out door, eco focused workshop based in sustainable practices.
Welcome Leeza and Alieta!
About Leeza
Leeza (she/her) is an arts therapist, nurse, midwife, homeschooling mother, wife, gardener and artist practising from her home and studio in Jiniburra and Kabi Kabi country, near Maleny, QLD.
Her passion, multidimensional knowledge and experience of developmental trauma informs her arts therapy practise as well as her own way of being in the world.
Leeza works from a fluid space of each perceived role interlinking, overlapping and merging to support a sense of what is needed in the moment.
She describes a sense that as she sits with children, youth, adults and families exploring how trauma impacts their everydayness, it is not always the arts therapist who is prominent in the space; it maybe the nurse, mum, teacher or gardener gently leaning forward to offer connection, learning, a joke or just quiet sharing.

About Alieta
Alieta (she/her) is a passionate advocate for young people accessing rich and authentic Arts and evironmental experiences in the school context.
For the last 10 years she has worked as the Arts and Cultural Studies teacher at the River School, a primary school in Maleny Queensland. She sees her role as essentially creating/ holding space, where children can explore and express their inherent creativity whilst experimenting with art materials and processes. Often the ‘art shed’ is a pumping art studio with children engaged in multiple arts projects.
The joy of seeing children connect with creativity and the transformation on emotional/ sensory levels, is incredibly fulfilling ‘work.’
Alieta has a background as a community cultural development arts worker working with diverse communitites, as a performance artist, videographer and textile artist. She has a Bachelor Degree in Visual Arts and a Grad Dip in Primary Teaching.
Alieta has collaborated with Leeza, on numerous arts inquiry projects at the River School over many years. As co-faciliators of this workshop, they share their resonant way of working, love of harvesting, botanical dyeing and printing, as a way of nurturing self-care, transformation and connection to the land.
