Lesbia Centeno (07/04/2020). “Between Immensity and Nostalgia”. This work is painted in water colour, ink, pencil and pastel stick on cardboard. Size: 13,5cms x 20cms. I am Venezuelan born, living in Maribyrnong, Victoria, Australia.
Today the Immensity dresses in Nostalgia, showing feelings of grief for the absence, deprivation, and loss of our daily routine.
The immensity also carries an exquisite range of colours, from the darkest grey passing by the brightest yellow to the light green as a symbol of nostalgia for the old memories.
In the immensity of my bedroom, I recreated the colours of my land, which are engraved in my soul and the solitude that today walks from street to street.
Between Immensity and Nostalgia there are only the memories and the screams of silence.
Based on these feelings, I titled this painting “Between Immensity and Nostalgia”.

Lesbia, so many elements of this artwork seem to convey the qualities of immensity and nostalgia. I see the immensity of the sky, it is beautiful in its immensity. The sepia tones of the terrain are seeped in nostalgia. The figure in the foreground appears bent by the immensity of an unknown but deeply felt burden. I wonder if the first figure is Immensity, is the second figure Nostalgia? And what is going on between these two, looking in different directions within the one landscape?
